There is a fog outside with something approaching rain falling. The soft gauzie nature of fog makes the world quiet, mysterious and beautiful. I'll take the dogs in a bit on our morning walk and enjoy that beauty but first to write. It's odd but I didn't notice either the rain or the fog till the sun was solidly up and Deb pointed it out. I was instead thinking how it gets dark so early and the sun rises so late. I lamented, how could it be that moving almost a whole garden zone closer to the equator and away from the towering Rockies to the west the sun could rise so late? Ah fog, hadn't thought of that!
Ain't that life! There you are plumbing the deepest mysteries only to realize you forgot to carry the 1. While sipping my coffee and contemplating the darkness YouTube granted some distraction by offering up a Buddhist philosophy video. Sadly, it was likely AI generated, as so much of the content is these days. I was only half listening but in about the 4th repetition of the same points in what was to be a one hour video I turned it off. That left me in the dark, with me, OK, and a cup of coffee.
The coffee disappeared pretty quick once it was my focus. Now it was just me! As I've mentioned before the drunks have a saying - "Do the next good thing!" The reason for this is obvious if you've ever given up any bad habit. There is an unreal amount of time!!!! Don't believe me? Tell yourself right now to not eat any of those delicious Christmas treats the neighbor brought over. You will eat something else, perhaps even something healthy. You will clean the kitchen and perhaps nibble on some cheese, just a small healthy piece. You'll organize your day, make the bed, walk the dogs, and a hundred other things if you're strong you'll stay out of the kitchen, mostly. You'll go to the store 'cause when you peeked in the fridge you realized "there is nothing healthy in this house." When the groceries are put away you'll reward yourself with a nice cup of herbal tea. You've done so much it's not even 10 O clock. One of those treats would go perfect with the tea and you've done so much. I mean what are you going to do be wasteful - throw them in the trash?! Just one!
You of course wake up at noon from your nap on the couch with the dog licking the crumbs off the long empty plate at your side.
Merry Christmas & a Prosperous New Year
